Mission investing seeks opportunities to align a foundation’s financial investments with the mission of the organization, while maintaining long-term targeted financial returns. At its core, mission investing is driven by investor intent, and focuses on the dual objectives of furthering programmatic goals and earning financial returns. The term Mission Investing covers two distinct categories of investments: market rate investments that support program goals; and Program Related Investments (PRIs) structured to create specific program benefits while earning a below-market return.

The More for Mission Campaign is a proactive commitment to broadly promote mission investing and challenge foundations to take up mission investing practices. The goal of the campaign is to increase mission investment commitments by $10 billion over the next five years.  The Campaign aims to help foundations build capacity so that they have the tools to be able to better align their investments with the mission of the organization.  The Campaign includes a  Leaders Circle that is comprised of 45 foundations from across the country representing approximately $27.5 billion in assets.  The Leadership Circle actively promotes the campaign and provides a variety of resources to support its growth.

We invite foundations to join the Campaign who are willing to donate their time and offer advice to foundations new to the practice of mission investing.  The Leaders Circle, comprised of 45 foundations representing approximately $27.5 billion in assets, are foundations that  have already committed to mission-investing in practice and are willing to serve as advocates through the More for Mission Campaign. We look forward to hearing from you to learn more about joining the Campaign.
