A leader in the UK in the area of mission investing, the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation recently joined More for Mission’s Members Circle.  The Foundation’s MRI and PRI activity is made up of a Finance Fund of £21m ($33m) from the Foundation’s £850m endowment ($1.34bn) of which approximately £11m ($17m) is currently committed.  From early investments in 1997, today’s example investments include Community Land Trusts that help develop affordable community owned rural housing and Big Issue Invest and Bridges Ventures that invest in and support the growth of social enterprises.  Esmée Fairbairn Foundation’s grant-making of £25m-£30m each year ($40m ) supports the UK’s cultural life, education and learning, the natural environment and enabling disadvantaged people to participate fully in society.
