Compton Foundation Active in Mission Investing

The Compton Foundation in Redwood City, California recently joined More for Mission’s Leaders Circle.  The foundation’s mission focus is in the areas of Peace & Security, Environment & Sustainability, and Population & Reproductive Health.  The foundation has been a leader in mission investing primarily through its public equity investment allocation.  As of May 2010 the Compton Foundation maintains at least 85% of its endowment in environmentally and socially screened investments.    Shareholder advocacy  is also an important initiative for the foundation—both voting their proxies for environmentally and socially responsible corporate policies and co-signing letters to corporate management requesting more environmentally sustainable practices.  The foundation also provides their staff with the option of investing in environmentally and socially responsible retirement funds.
